Every great cup of coffee has a story behind it. At Pavin Caffè, ours begins over a century ago in the heart of northern Italy — a story of family, resilience, and an unwavering passion for exceptional coffee.
Where It All Began
Our history traces back to the early twentieth century, when Cesare Pavin and his wife, Elisa, opened the Caffè Commercio in the center of Tombolo — a small and charming town near Padua, in the Veneto region of Italy. Like many traditional Italian cafés of the era, Caffè Commercio served wine, spirits, and of course, coffee.
But it was the coffee that truly captured the hearts of their customers. So much so that within just a few years, it became the establishment's defining product — the reason people walked through the door, and the seed of what would grow into a century-long legacy of premium Italian coffee roasting.

A Family's Determination
Tragedy struck when Cesare passed away at just 32 years old, following a car accident while on a business trip. It was a devastating loss — but one that could not extinguish the family's spirit or the legacy he had begun to build.
Elisa, with remarkable strength and quiet determination, kept the Caffè Commercio alive and the Pavin name honored. Her resolve became the foundation upon which the next generation would build something extraordinary.
Then in 1949, Cesare's sons, Raffaele and Luigi, took a bold step forward. They began sourcing raw coffee beans, blending and roasting them by hand to craft flavors that were truly their own — artisan blends with an unmistakable Italian character that the region had never experienced before.
A Century in Four Moments

Word spread quickly. The coffee at Caffè Commercio became known as the finest in the region, drawing customers from towns far and wide. In those early days, the beans were carefully roasted in a small 10 kg manual roaster, and Luigi would personally deliver packages of Pavin Caffè to loyal customers — first by bicycle, and later in a Fiat Topolino 500.
That little car became a symbol of momentum and ambition. From that point on, Pavin Caffè's growth was unstoppable — expanding its reach, refining its craft, and building a reputation for quality Italian espresso that has endured for generations.
